Domestic Violence: When a female psychiatrist teaches a man not to abuse his wif

"A lot ofSLOTXOhusbands beat their wives thinking it made them a man. Not because they are bad people," says Dr. Maryam Mahmood, a powerful woman with a warm sense of wit.

She works for SOS Children's Village, an international NGO. which aims to educate Jordanians about domestic abuse.

The psychiatrist invited a group of men to talk to her while sipping tea and gently interrogating them.

The man felt relaxed in the presence of Dr. Mahmood and slowly open up

"Do you want your wife to hit you?" she teased, before reminding them that beating your wife is against Shariah or Islamic law.
